Attendance reminder

Attendance: Every Student, Every Day, Every Period

High schools will take attendance for every class, every day (including Wednesdays). This means that even during indirect instruction (asynchronous learning), students will be required to record their attendance for every class. Students will mark their participation in each class on a Google Form within Google Classroom.

Automated attendance calls will go out to the parents and guardians of students who are marked absent. These calls will be delivered every school day evening at 6 p.m. and will contain the PREVIOUS school day’s attendance report. If you receive a call about a student absence, please contact the attendance office by calling (360) 885-6555 or by emailing bghattendance@battlegroundps.org.

When you call to verify your student’s attendance, it would be helpful if you provide the reason for the absence (e.g., illness, family emergency, etc.). In addition to the reasons listed on page 1 of the Student & Family Handbook, we have some new reasons:

  • Student illness, health condition, or medical appointment due to COVID-19
  • Student caring for a family member who has an illness, health condition, or medical appointment due to COVID-19
  • Student absent for employment or other family obligations that are temporarily necessary due to COVID-19
  • Student absent due to parent or guardian work schedule during regularly scheduled school hours
  • Lack of necessary instructional tools
  • Internet broadband access or connectivity issues
  • If you have any questions about attendance, please contact the BGHS attendance office.
