2021 Battle Ground Public Schools High School Summer School Credit Recovery/Incompletes

How does Summer School work?

Courses will be uploaded during the week of June 28 – July 02, 2021. Students may begin working on the course as soon as they receive an email indicating that they have been activated. In person support will be available at Battle Ground High School from July 06 – August 05 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Monday – Thursday. During the week of August 09- August 13, finals will be given from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Who is eligible?

Any enrolled Battle Ground Public School high school student with a failed high school course (or courses) is eligible to attend. Students who received an “Incomplete” during 2nd semester of the 2019-20 school year can also attend summer school to complete those courses.

How much does Summer School cost?

NO CHARGE for 2021 Summer School.

How do I Register for Summer School?

Fill out the Summer School Registration Form provided by your counselor or accessed online on the counseling center website. Counselors will give input as to which courses need to be recovered.

How is Summer School graded?

Grading is “P” for PASS only. No letter grades are given. Partial class progress is not retained beyond August 13, 2021.

For students that need to recover an “Incomplete” course, the 2nd semester 2019-20 grade will be adjusted to reflect the missed content.

Which classes are available for Summer School?

Core classes and some electives are offered during summer school. Students with an IEP must have approval from their special education instructor to take Foundation courses. Without this pre-approval, all students will be enrolled in grade-level courses.

What if my account gets locked during Summer School?

Students have up to 3 attempts to earn 70% on any unit quiz/test to progress. After three failed attempts, summer school staff must be contacted to reset the class during support hours. The summer school contact is Colleen Homola at homola.colleen@battlegroundps.org.

What do I do if I need help with a class?

There will be teachers available to offer support in person at Battle Ground High School. Online tutoring will be available by appointment through Zoom. Students should contact Colleen Homola (homola.colleen@battlegroundps.org) to make an appointment.

How do I take my final exam and earn credit?

Students must take a proctored final exam at the completion of each course. If students finish their course before the last week of summer school, they can come to Battle Ground High School to take their final. The last week is reserved for giving finals as well. There is no tutoring available during the last week.

The minimum score on the final to earn credit in the course is 60%. Two final exam retakes may be scheduled if necessary. After a third failed final exam attempt, the student will be re-enrolled in the class. No online content assistance is allowed during the final exam. Hand-written notes and printed study guides from the online class may be allowed as well as e-notes that students have taken during the course.

What happens on August 13, 2021, at 5:00 p.m.?

Completed credit recovery course credits are sent to district registrars. All accounts are closed and become inaccessible. Unfinished summer school class progress is permanently lost. Unfinished summer school classes do not continue beyond August 13, 2021, at 5:00 p.m.
