Citizens Advisory Committee

Formed in 2021, the Citizens Advisory Committee is designed to keep district staff and school board members informed of community perspectives, represent the interests of parents and community members and increase awareness of initiatives and programs.

Members represent different roles and geographic areas in the district. They include business, municipal, and faith-based leaders; parents; guardians; senior citizens; and volunteers.

Past committee work has included planning for the future of the district's facilities and shaping the district’s strategic plan.

"Citizens Advisory has been an outlet to hear from and speak directly with administrators, community members, teachers, board members and students about my experiences and theirs...to share what has been going well and where the district may be falling short. Serving on this committee, as well as on curriculum adoption committees, has allowed me (as a parent and community member) to share my perspectives and influence, in some small way, the decisions and direction of the district. These experiences have turned around my perceptions of the district. I have been consistently impressed by the knowledge, skill and candor of district employees. They are being transparent and actively trying to engage and to do their best by this community and our children. And, by and large, they seem to be doing a pretty good job of it. I would encourage any community member with concerns about the district to come to a meeting or seek out district administrators, board members or other leaders to engage, ask questions and share your concerns. They want to hear from you, and if you are prepared to listen, they may just surprise you." –Josh Wilde , CAC member
