Wednesday and Thursday, March 18-19: Most students will go home three hours early due to parent-teacher conferences. There is no late start on Wednesday. School will be in session on Friday, March 20.
Give input on budget cuts by March 18
Through March 18, there are two ways for people to provide input on budget cuts:
Budget simulation tool: Adjust costs to balance the budget for next school year. Tip: Review the information on the welcome screen to learn how to use the tool.
ThoughtExchange survey: Participants can provide their ideas and rate their agreement with ideas shared by others.
A summary of the input will be shared in the coming weeks.

Spring break camp through Right at School
Looking for something for your child to do during spring break? Consider Right At School’s spring break camp. Each day of the camp will bring new opportunities for students to solve riddles, build inventions and bring stories to life through hands-on STEM and literacy-inspired challenges.
About this year’s camp:
📍 Glenwood Heights Primary
📅 April 6–10
⏰ 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Cost: $60 per day
Registration is open now.
Standardized testing opportunities
In April, students will have a chance to take the ASVAB and/or world language test. ASVAB scores are used to determine if someone is qualified to enlist in the military and to assign someone to an appropriate job in the military. Scores above 31 also will fulfill graduation pathway requirements. Register online by April 18 for the test on April 25.
World language tests give students a chance to earn up to four credits and possibly the State Seal of Biliteracy on their diploma. Register online by April 10 for the test on April 25.
School board meeting recap
The Battle Ground Public Schools board of directors met on Monday, March 9, for a regular meeting and a work session/special meeting. See videos and summaries of the meetings. During the regular meeting, the board voted to award a transportation services contract to First Student, retaining the company as the district's transportation provider for the next four years, with an option for one additional year. The special meeting/work session featured a discussion of collective bargaining laws.
The board will meet next on Monday, March 23, for a regular meeting at 6 p.m. The meeting is open to the public at the Lewisville campus and streaming online. A work session/special meeting may be added later.
March school meals
School lunch menus for March are available online. Meals can be paid through InTouch Receipting.
Now enrolling students for kindergarten and accepting applications for Transitional Kindergarten
Any child who will be 5 years old prior to Sept. 1, 2026, is eligible to enroll in kindergarten this fall. Enroll now to make sure your child can attend kindergarten orientation in the spring.
In addition, BGPS offers Transitional Kindergarten, a full day, no-cost early learning program for children who will be 4 years old prior to Sept. 1. The program focuses on developmentally appropriate skills and social and emotional development. Students must meet eligibility requirements. Space is limited.
River HomeLink presents ‘Sister Act Jr.’
Based on the hit 1992 film and Tony-nominated Broadway musical, Sister Act Jr. is the feel-good musical comedy that will have audiences jumping to their feet! The show runs March 20-28 at the Prairie High School auditorium. Tickets are available now.

BGPS highlight
Inaugural Bites & Books helps students sink their teeth into reading
Thank you to Read Northwest and Battle Ground Education Foundation for organizing and hosting Bites & Books, a celebration of literacy.
On March 12, parents and guardians joined their first graders at every BGPS primary school for breakfast and reading activities. Students took home free books, bookmarks and other items to keep the love of reading going. Battle Ground Chief of Police Dennis Flynn also joined the fun.
We love seeing these meaningful connections across our community!
